My new Invader neck pickup is reading open or dead DCR on a multimeter. Is it defective?

We install a capacitor inline with the neck position Invader pickup to help give it a bit more clarity. Without the capacitor, the large hex pole screws and high output picking up the amplitude of string vibration at the neck position make the tone too muddy to really be usable.

The capacitor will make the pickup read on a multimeter as having a dead coil, despite the pickup being perfectly fine.

When bought new, we include a note in the pickup box  that the Invader neck may misread due to the capacitor.

To test an Invader neck without putting it in to a guitar, we recommend wiring it up directly to an output jack to check the functionality of the coils.
