How Does the Pickup Position Influence the Sound of the Pickup?

The closer to the bridge a pickup is will make the pickup brighter, thinner sounding and less output as the string vibration is less as it gets closer to the bridge. The amplitude of the string vibration increases closer to the fingerboard and the pickup will sound fatter, fuller and increased output providing both pickups are wound to the same specification. The height adjustment on the pickup will influence the output and sustain of a pickup. The further away a pickup is from the string makes the sound cleaner and less distortion. The closer the pickup is to the strings increases volume and increased distortion to the amplifier as the generated signal is increased.
