What is the wind direction and polarity of Seymour Duncan Telecaster True Single Coil pickups?

The wind direction and polarity of Seymour Duncan Telecaster Single Coil pickups differ depending on the model and whether neck or bridge position.

Telecaster True Single Coil Neck Pickups

Historically throughout the 50s and 60s, Telecaster neck pickups were made with the same wind direction and polarity as the bridge pickups, with South Up polarity and Counter-Clockwise wind direction. The following Seymour Duncan Telecaster neck pickups follow the “vintage” convention. These models are great choices for Nashville Telecaster configurations, using an RWRP Stratocaster pickup in the middle position:

  • STR-1 Vintage Rhythm for Tele
  • STR-2 Hot Rhythm for Telecaster
  • STR-3 Quarter-Pound Rhythm for Tele
  • Antiquity for '55 Telecaster Neck

Some Seymour Duncan Telecaster neck pickups are opposite of Standard and have a North Up polarity and Clockwise wind direction, for hum-cancelling when the neck pickup is combined with the bridge pickup.

This includes the following models:

  • STR52-1 Five-Two Rhythm for Tele
  • APTR-1 Alnico II Pro Rhythm for Tele
  • Antiquity for Telecaster Neck
  • Antiquity II for Telecaster Neck
